Konjekti: Plan Experiments

When two or more models fit your measurements so far, Konjekti shows which next measurements can tell them apart, before anyone spends lab time on a reading that settles nothing.

How it works:

• Start an investigation: name what you change and what you measure, list the input values your lab can actually test, and say how precise your measurements are.
• Add each model as a formula y = ax² + bx + c, with how far its prediction may be off and a line on why you think it holds.
• Open the plan: the fewest measurements that tell every pair of models apart, marked on the graph where the models' predictions part.
• Record what you measured. A model that disagrees with a measurement is marked, and the plan updates.

Working together: classmates and teachers pass an investigation to each other as a file, through any app they like. When you open someone's file, you review every new model and measurement before you accept it, and nothing you already have is replaced. When you open a file for an investigation you already have, new items stay out of your plan until you tick them.

What it tells you, and what it does not:

• "Smallest plan" appears only when the app has checked that no shorter plan exists. Otherwise it says the plan works and a shorter one may exist.
• If no allowed measurement can tell two models apart at the precision you entered, it names them.
• A model that still fits the evidence is not proven true.
• It does not take measurements, give probabilities or test significance, and it does not solve other kinds of equations.

Limits: formulas up to x², up to 8 models compared at once, 2 to 25 allowed inputs, and 20 saved investigations. Investigations live only on this phone, so export a copy of any you want to keep elsewhere.
