I don't feel like I'm learning the language I signed up for. There are no speaking exercises for Japanese. There is no explanation behind grammar rules, so I end up guessing based off prior correct answers and end up incorrect. The badges and leagues are supposed to be motivating, but they feel like an overwhelming challenge. So, instead of learning, I'm speeding through and trying not to break a streak or miss a badge. Also - music is broken. You sould be able to sing or play an instrument

keeping it at one star because even though I pay for a premium tier, the app continues to be poorly made and maintained. the "maintenance breaks" are ridiculous and interfere with progress, and they constantly change things just to make their lessons seem more relevant. plus the characters are very annoying and not at all conducive to learning. really needs improvement overall. also has grammatical issues which shouldn't exist. and the gamification of learning doesn't help with retention at all

Used to love this app but will be cancelling my membership after it runs out. They seem to now be focused on making it addictive rather than actually help with learning. After each lesson you now have to click through a ridiculousl amount of different things (opening reward boxes and then getting cards/outfits etc) that become so repetitive and boring it makes me want to quit. I'm sure it might appeal to some people but it's completely ruined it for me.
