Street Fighter II Ken vs Ryu

Ken and Ryu, round after round, on your wrist.

This animated watch face is a full bout from the 1991 arcade classic Street Fighter II: Champion Edition, fought on the rooftop of Suzaku Castle under the night sky. Every 20 seconds the two rivals square up and fight it out with the moves you remember:

• Ryu throws a Hadoken, and Ken flips over it into a jumping kick
• Ken's roundhouse kick hits Ryu's guard
• Ryu sweeps, and Ken jumps clear
• Ken's Hadoken catches Ryu
• Ryu answers with a jumping kick of his own
• Ken blocks Ryu's second fireball
• Ryu jumps in, Ken meets him with a Shoryuken, and Ryu goes down for the KO
• Ken celebrates his win, fist in the air

Every frame is the arcade's own sprite animation, played at the game's timing with hit sparks, block sparks and fireballs.

The HUD is the game's, redrawn in crisp pixel lettering:
• The clock on top, in the round timer's big figures, following your 12/24-hour setting
• Ken's health bar is your battery
• Ryu's health bar is the steps left to your goal, and it empties as you walk
• KO flashes in the middle once you reach your step goal
• KEN and RYU under the bars, then the date and today's steps

The fight follows the clock, so wherever you look the bout is exactly where the time says it should be.

In always-on mode the fight goes dark and only a dim clock stays lit, gently shifting position to protect your screen.
