AR Ruler is a measurement tool for everyday jobs around the home, the office and the workshop. Mark two points on a surface and the measurement tool returns the size in centimetres, metres, millimetres, inches, feet or yards.
🧰 One measurement tool instead of three
A folding rule covers short spans, an inch tape covers the awkward ones, and neither is in your hand at the moment the number is needed. AR Ruler replaces both with a measurement tool that runs on the camera you already carry: it detects a floor, a wall or a worktop, and a distance measure stays steady on that surface while you move around the object.
↔️ Distance measure, length and height
Linear mode is a straight reading between two points, the same job an inch tape does along a wall. The distance measure mode works from the camera to a fixed point on the detected plane, which is the fastest way to check how far a wall or a fence really is, and that distance measure holds even as you step back. Height is measured relative to the recognised surface — ceiling, door, shelf — without a ladder. Angle mode reads corners on the plane, so the measurement tool also tells you whether a frame is square before you fix it.
🧮 Area, perimeter and volume
Trace a floor or a wall and area and perimeter come back together, which is the measurement tool most people actually need before buying tiles, paint or laminate. The volume scanner gives the size of 3D objects — boxes, appliances, furniture that no inch tape reaches easily — and a quick distance measure across the doorway answers whether the delivery will fit at all.
📐 Ruler on screen and path scan
For small parts the on-screen ruler measures directly on the phone screen, in millimetres or inches, exactly like a short inch tape. Path scan calculates the length of a marked path, so a route that bends around furniture gives one number rather than several. The same measurement tool covers a screw and a corridor: an inch tape reading on the screen, a distance measure across the room.
🔧 Everyday jobs
Curtain width, space for a sofa, depth of a wardrobe, height of a shelf — a measurement tool in the camera answers all of it in seconds. A distance measure taken before you leave the room means you reach the shop with the number in hand instead of a guess. An inch tape stays in the drawer; the phone is already in your pocket.
🔢 Units and precision
Any value can be read in centimetres, metres, millimetres, inches, feet or yards, so a metric plan and an imperial order form need no third-party converter. A reading from an inch tape and a distance measure taken with the camera line up to the decimal place, which is what makes the measurement tool usable for real orders.
⭐ Key features
• 📏 Measurement tool with cm, m, mm, inch, feet and yard
• ↔️ Distance measure from the camera to a point on the detected plane
• 📏 Digital inch tape for walls, furniture and openings
• 📏 Inch tape readings in millimetres, inches and feet
• ↕️ Height measured relative to the recognised surface
• 🔺 Angle measurement on detected planes
• 🧮 Area and perimeter for rooms, walls and floors
• 📦 Volume scanner: size of 3D objects
• 🧭 Path scan: length of a marked path
• 📐 On-screen ruler for small objects
• 🔢 Values in metric and imperial units
Mark the points, read the value, order the material. AR Ruler keeps one purpose: an accurate measurement tool in your pocket, where a fast distance measure and a digital inch tape replace the tools you would otherwise have to fetch. Note: AR Ruler requires Google ARCore; some features are Core only.
