Leeward: Sailing Watch Face

Leeward is a marine watch face for sailing, styled like a chart-table instrument and made for time on the water. A raised card with brass ticks runs round the edge, the time is large in the centre, and a brass marker rides the card once a minute so a five-minute start sequence can be read at a glance.

WHAT IT SHOWS
- Time (12/24-hour follows your watch), day, date and month
- A seconds marker on a 60-tick card, shown while the screen is on
- The current moon phase, which sets the spring and neap tide cycle
- Four complication slots: two large and two small

WHAT IT DOES NOT SHOW
Leeward does not show wind speed, wind direction, barometric pressure or tides. A watch face cannot download that data or read it from a sensor of its own, and we would rather say so than put placeholder numbers on the dial. The card is a design, not a compass: it does not sense your heading.

If you have an app that publishes wind, barometer or tide readings as watch complications, you can place them in the four slots yourself. The slots start as sunrise/sunset, battery, world clock and your next calendar event, and any of them can be changed.

The moon phase is not a tide table. It tells you where you are in the spring and neap cycle, nothing more.

THEMES
Chart Table (navy and brass), Night Watch (red, for low glare on night passages), Signal (white and yellow on black) and Squall (slate and orange). All text is at a contrast ratio of at least 7:1 (always-on mode is deliberately dimmer).

In always-on mode the screen keeps just the time and a dim ring, to protect your AMOLED display and your battery. The seconds marker is not shown in always-on mode.

HOW TO USE
Install on your watch (or from the Play Store on your phone and choose your watch). Touch and hold the current watch face, swipe to Leeward, then tap the pencil icon. Use Theme for colours and tap a slot to change its complication.

Requires a round Wear OS 4 or newer watch. This is a Watch Face Format watch face: it contains no code and collects no data.
