About this app
Take your Steam friends, groups, and conversations with you wherever you go.
The Steam Chat app includes many key features of the desktop Steam client chat, including:
Friends List – See who’s in game or online at a glance. You'll see your custom categories and favorites bar just like you can on your PC.
Rich Chat – Your chats get even better with higher fidelity links, videos, tweets, GIFs, Giphy, Steam emoticons, and more.
Invite Links – Add new friends on Steam with a link. Generate an invite link you can text or email.
Customizable Notifications – Mobile notifications mean you'll never miss a message or game invite. You can customize your notifications per friend, group chat, and chat channel.
Group Chats - Get everyone on the same page. Groups make it easier to do things like stay in touch with your communities and organize game night with your best friends.

Been using this for quite some time, and can say it is less of a mess than it was, still cannot upload photos from the file manager, but hey, at least it's better than the old crashing. Sometimes the chat seems to freeze and not show new messages. Stickers can be a blurry mess and not animate, and it's not my internet. Animated room effects do not work, despite being enabled... yeah, just needs some hard polishing around the edges and even the basic user experience. Horrible for a separate app.

In the last update it crashes when selecting text, doesn't send images, and still haven't gotten redirection to the main Steam app when trying to view a friend's profile, forcing you to use that weird internal webview with a comically large address bar. Other issues include messages not sending sometimes (they'll send when you restart the app w/ no way to cancel them), recent chats not always being correctly sorted by time and group chat notifications never appearing. Refactor it, it's super bad

Now it just doesn't work at all. Every conversation you click on results in a crash to the OS. 2 years later. The app half functions. if you minimize the app to use another you MUST close it first otherwise it won't load. Just constant black screen. it's an absolute headache. it'll never get better.
