The app does not control video. That's right. You cannot remotely shoot VIDEO! I bought the Powershot camera specifically because the product description said you can control the camera remotely with this app, and I needed to be able to start video rolling by remote control at live gigs. The GoPro app controls the cam's video, so it never occurred to me that Canon's would not. Only buried deep in the manual can you ever discover: "Movie shooting is not available." In the 21st century? Really? Lame. Just lame. Lesson learned. Always download and check the manual before buying.

Works great with photos, have all the necessary ISO settings, aperture and shutter speed, focus control. BUT in the video part - there is an obvious problem, you press the video recording button and it is recorded only until the smartphone turns off the application screen and the camera turns off immediately, this happens in 30 seconds. those. you cannot record videos longer than 30 seconds through this application, which is very strange. Hopefully this will be fixed in the next updates. I turn on the light, autofocus, sit down to record a video, and the camera turns off after exactly 30 seconds - this needs to be fixed.

Signing in is now required for use - there is absolutely NO need for this. It had me unable to get images off my camera, even though I had done before, since I was in a remote location. This is a "feature" that serves(?) Canon, not the user. Update 1: Now sign in fails even though I DO have mob internet access. Update: I uninstalled the app and reinstalled - now it doesn't ask for sign in but hangs on connecting to the camera. After rebooting, it connected once, then lost the cxn and now fails.
