About this app

Krita is a full-featured digital painting application designed for artists. Whether you create illustrations, comics, animations, concept art or storyboards – Krita will be a powerful tool for you.

Krita offers many common and innovative features to make painting more fun and more productive. There are great brush engines for sketching and painting, stabilizers for freehand inking, assistants for constructing complex scenes, a distraction-free canvas-only mode for painting without bother, clone layers, layer styles, filter and transform masks for non-destructive editing. Krita supports all the most used file formats, including PSD.

Krita supports animation with onion skinning, storyboarding, comic book project management, scripting in Python, many powerful filters, selection tools, colorizing tools, color managed workflows, flexible workspaces… And much, much more. Discover the full feature set of Krita at https://krita.org!

This is a beta release of Krita and is not suitable for real work yet. Since the interface is currently optimized for big screen devices (tablets and chromebooks) we are not making it available for phones yet.

Krita is created by the Krita Foundation and Halla Rempt Software. The Krita project is part of the KDE community.
Krita is a professional digital painting program.

Great app. I use it on Samsung S23U with the S-Pen to draw pixel art, and it works great. A few gripes: I like that the interface is unchanged between desktop and mobile version, but I wish that some floating windows were adapted better. Settings widow doesn't fit on the screen in portrait mode, and has to be moved horizontally to cancel/confirm. In landscape mode the settings window doesn't fit vertically. Same for other windows. Occasional crashes bother me a bit but not enough to complain.

I tell you wHat. This port is the bees knees. However, I cant help but notice some effort has been put into the S-pen. I understand it's a little silly to ask considering this app isn't exactly inteeended for phones. HOWEVER, I see a good portion of people here seem to want to utilize this on their phones rather than tablets. Couple suggestions, 1st: Volume Key, hotkey input. 2nd: Possibly emulate a rightclick, using s-pen button. 3rd? Gesture for navigation would then make it PERFECT. ty

i guess the 1 star makes sense if you aren't familiar with the pc version, which this essentially is 😭 works great with samsung dex and my portable monitor (15 inches). Updating to 5 stars because I've since found a pretty fine workaround for the font thing, i can just do my type in a different program and import it! krita is simply too great to leave 4 stars, though i do hope my downloaded fonts not being there can be fixed eventually. and im looking forward to gloss contour being implemented

What’s new

A bugfix release of Krita 5.3.4 contains many bugfixes and improvements. It finally brings video exports to Android, which means you can now render animations and timelapses from the recorder. Apart from that, Arkady Flury has been improving Krita's icons at a steady rate. Thanks! Also of note: the GIMP XCF file import plugin has been removed. The plugin relied on a third party library that is no longer maintained and had many security issues.
