absolute best, used to play it all the times in school. simple, easy to get the hang of, easy to scale difficulty, can be easy and can be challenging. works perfectly in offline, has campaign and randomized games. could use some explanation menu though, for example a quick overview that trees take away profit or about what diplomacy does, or a quick table of which cells which fighters can attack or how much money they consume

Simple - ✓ making you to think - ✓ Just a good strategic game to be short. Suggestion: Look at how units move when you use fast movement (activated by holding on a cell). It seems to me that the system doesn't account for unit displacement (i.e.: A cell is occupied by a unit, and it moves to free up the cell. Fast movement doesn't seem to take into account the moment a cell becomes free). Or it doesn't quite find the optimal route. Just maybe. If there is a possibility to fix it, then great.

Thanks for the good review. If I remember correctly, the game sorts units by a distance to the target point before moving them. This way a units that are closest to the target should move first and leave empty cells for other units. If you know a way to reliably reproduce the problem then please email me (yiotro93@gmail.com)

Used to play years ago, been replaying lately. It's fun, though the skins for units are a bit mixed quality. I like the ones with tanks and bunkers. Wish I could enable city names WITHOUT random names included (only my names).
