About this audiobook

Bloomsbury presents The Three-Body Problem by Cixin Liu, read by Daniel York Loh.

Read the award-winning, critically acclaimed, multi-million-copy-selling science-fiction phenomenon – soon to be a Netflix Original Series from the creators of Game of Thrones.

1967: Ye Wenjie witnesses Red Guards beat her father to death during China's Cultural Revolution. This singular event will shape not only the rest of her life but also the future of mankind.

Four decades later, Beijing police ask nanotech engineer Wang Miao to infiltrate a secretive cabal of scientists after a spate of inexplicable suicides. Wang's investigation will lead him to a mysterious online game and immerse him in a virtual world ruled by the intractable and unpredictable interaction of its three suns.

This is the Three-Body Problem and it is the key to everything: the key to the scientists' deaths, the key to a conspiracy that spans light-years and the key to the extinction-level threat humanity now faces.

my honest review of this book. I didn't come here from Netflix, I don't like cinema no time for it. This book was read well by the narrator and translates excellently. This book sets scenes well and the author/ translator did an amazing job with environmental depictions, if this book was an environmental novel it would have been amazing, but it is sci-fi and I think in that aspect it falls terrible short. it reads like a history novel and focuses more densely on human morality, ethics, and philosophy. I understand this book is a stage setter for the remainder of the series but given my dislike of this book I won't be continuing the series. there were too many parts of the book that were fantastic or silly to the point of being annoying. and it's sci-fi element is soft sci-fi posing as hard Sci-fi. I honestly enjoyed the post script from the writer and narrator more than I enjoyed the novel; I look back at the price tag and see it as Netflix hype, not a mark of quality.
