Mother Of Sons

I'm not sure why Landy didn't just call this book Valkyrie Cain because Skullduggery Pleasant is just an afterthought. I cannot tell you how much I'm sick and tired of Valkyie Cain, Darquesse, quipy dialogue, time travel and weird, unrealistic spontaneous lesbianism. There used to be wonderful, fully developed old guard characters now there's just horrible caricatures of the worst of Tik Tok influencers. Landy has killed off his greatest creations or pushed them to the outer irrelevant margins. Give this 3 part series a hard pass. There's nothing here but smoke and mirrors of a once great series that was new and original but has now sunk into the quicksand of social messaging.

I loved this book! The previous trilogy was on an epic scale, with vast landscapes on a limitless canvas. This book has downsized but with no loss of quality. The characters are richer, the dialogue is wittier & I loved the story.
