About this ebook

Complete and unabridged, with 59 full-page plates by James 'Clock' Shaw, Robert Alott and Joseph Kennedy. Fifteen stories out of medical practice - the curable case, the third generation, the doctor who cannot tell a patient the truth. Doyle had been a struggling GP in Southsea and wrote these from the surgery rather than from the study; several were thought too grim to print at the time. This edition is bound with 59 plates of painting, among them works by James Shaw, Andrew Colley and Jerry Barrett, dating from 1845 to 1924.
