About this ebook

CIVIC SENSE is not a boring textbook. It is a real, honest, sometimes uncomfortable conversation about why India — a country of brilliant, warm, talented people — struggles with the basics of public life.

This book covers everything:

• Why do we keep our homes spotless but treat streets like dustbins?

• Why does traffic become a war zone the moment we sit behind a wheel?

• Why do we stare at couples in parks — and what gives us the right?

• Why is India falling behind countries like Japan and Singapore — and what can we actually do about it?

• How does our behavior on WhatsApp and Instagram count as civic sense too?

Inside this book you will find:

→ 17 detailed chapters covering every part of your day — morning to night

→ Real stories, real situations, zero lectures

→ A full section on Digital Civic Sense — social media, misinformation, cyberbullying

→ An honest, no-sugarcoating chapter on India — where we are failing and why

→ World lessons from Japan, Singapore and Switzerland

→ 50 simple habits anyone can start today

→ A daily checklist you can actually use

→ A powerful chapter on respecting couples, personal space, and minding your own business in public

This book is for:

— Students who want to understand why civic sense matters

— Young professionals navigating city life

— Parents who want to raise civic-minded children

— Anyone who loves India enough to want it to be better.

About the author

Vivek is an engineer by degree, but a thinker by nature.

Born and raised in India, Vivek has spent years observing the small things — the way people behave in traffic, the way strangers treat each other in public, the way a single act of carelessness can ruin a shared space for hundreds of people. And slowly, those observations turned into questions. And those questions turned into this book.

He is not a politician. He is not a philosopher. He is just someone who got stuck in one too many unnecessary traffic jams, watched one too many wrappers land on a clean street, and decided — enough. Someone needs to say this out loud.
