Pawar has been a part of the Ambedkarite Movement for 52 years now. Known among people and friends as JaVi, he is one of the founding members of Dalit Panthers in Maharashtra. Both as a founder and as the documentationist of the Dalit Panther movement, he is often called the Google of the Ambedkarite movement.
