About this ebook

What kind of a name is Beauty? Well it’s my name for a start, but that doesn’t mean I love it.

Beauty Cookson is no beauty. She's a plain, timid girl who constantly gets teased by the super-confident, snooty girls at school. Worse than the teasing in the playground, though, is the unpredictable, hurtful criticism from her father. Beauty and her meek, sweet mother live in uneasy fear of his fierce rages, sparked whenever they break one of his fussy house rules.

After an unbearable birthday party and the very real threat of Dad's out-of-control temper, Mum and Beauty run away. Now in a quiet, idyllic seaside village, their new-found freedom and a moment of culinary inspiration give them a hobby, an income and even a new nickname for Beauty.

Can they begin a happier, sweeter life - without Dad?

A charming, page-turning and heart-warming story from the beloved Jacqueline Wilson.

This is my review for your book: Cookie I read this book, and I thought it was very enjoyable reading it. Even though it was very hard for Beauty and her mother, it turned out quit well. Jacqueline did a great job of the adjectives and how the characters felt in this book. Even though I am only ten, I could still understand everything in this book. I think I would tell a friend it is a good book and to read it. I actually did, and now my friend Martina is reading it and she told me it was fantastic! From: Kaytlin B-D

I loved it I understand beauty's frustration towards her dad and how she doesn't want her friends or stuff to know as I use to be that way too until we escaped frm him like how beauty did. I wish ny mum was like hers and I understand how her mum still doesn't rlly know as she's a young mum. It's a good book one of my favs and one of the first Jacqueline wilson books I've read

It was nice I guess but there was a lot of anger and harassment in this book. I'm not sure I really liked it too much..
