About this ebook

Three months ago, Scarlett Kapinsky had a father, a future, and a life she took for granted.

Now her father is in prison for a bombing he didn't commit, and the only person offering to help is a man she has no reason to trust.

Ethan Koenig is heir to a world built on old blood and older secrets. He was raised to be ruthless. Raised for revenge. Ordered to destroy what's left of Scarlett's life.

Instead, he does the one thing he's not allowed to do. He protects her.

He tells himself it's strategy. His body has other ideas.

For Ethan, one rule mattered more than anything: don't get attached. Then he met Scarlett. He's never wanted to break a rule this badly.

Her laugh gets under his skin. Her mouth, her hair, her eyes, her body. All of it, a distraction he can't afford. Somewhere between guarding her and wanting her, his focus starts slipping.

As they dig into the conspiracy that destroyed her family, Scarlett starts to realize her father's downfall wasn't an accident.

Every answer they find pulls her deeper into a world of power, money, and violence that has been rigged against her since before she was born, and pulls Ethan further from the man he was raised to become.

Ethan was built to destroy. Scarlett is about to find out what he'll destroy to keep her.

I don't know what the heck I just read but it tasted like disappointment. I don't know whether to be offended as a women or troubled by the ideas of the book but it was not what I expected. For all of the moral and general non-sense pitfalls of the book, it was captivating in it's own way and definitely well written. It made me curious enough to finish the series, if only to see how it unfolds and ends

I loved it and can't wait for the next one I'm about to read. She's a great author and keeps the suspense. I am a visual reader with my imagination and can see the events happening as i read and that says a lot. Thanks
