VICTORY COMES AT A PRICE . . .

Mare learned this all too well when Cal's betrayal nearly destroyed her. Now determined to protect her heart - and secure her freedom - she resolves to overthrow the kingdom of Norta once and for all . . . starting with the crown on Maven's head.

But no battle is won alone, and before the Reds may rise as one, Mare must side with the boy who broke her heart in order to defeat the boy who almost broke her.

Cal's powerful Silver allies, alongside Mare and the Scarlet Guard, prove a formidable force. But Maven is driven by an obsession so deep he will stop at nothing to have Mare as his own again, even if it means demolishing everything - and everyone - in his path.

It ended very suddenly and was quite anticlimactic. I enjoyed reading from Evangeline's pov and wish she played a bigger part towards the end. I felt by the end I was skimming pages and it felt like a chore picking up the book, however the concept of the story was interesting and I liked how diverse the characters were. Perhaps if I was a teen I'd have enjoyed it more?

seriously struggled to get through this book. skimmed massive chunks and felt alot of it was pointless. alot of words with very little captivating moments.

I took my time finishing this. I honestly thought the previous book was the finish and I was soo sad. To have a new battle and a different outcome and another rift. "Time heals all wounds" This series is truly a masterpiece for readers old and young alike. I thoroughly enjoyed all exploits and insinuations. Equality for all. Fantastic.
