He obtained M.Sc. and D.Phil. degrees from Allahabad University and has been Professor, Head of Department of Physics and Dean, Science Faculty at Punjab University, Chandigarh and Vice-Chancellor of Jiwaji University, Gwalior. He was also the President of Indian Association of Physics Teachers (IAPT).
