About this ebook

Can Monica brew up enough courage to unmask the killer before she becomes the next person to disappear into the woods?

Monica Brown needs a vacation—and a weekend at Lake Canopy Cabins with her best friend Carol sounds like the perfect escape from Millpond. Fresh air, lazy afternoons by the water, and absolutely no dead bodies.

But when a group of hunters in the neighboring cabin loses one of their own, Monica's so-called getaway takes a deadly turn. Eddie Loman has vanished, and nobody seems eager to explain why. The remaining hunters are jumpy, the stories don't add up, and the woods surrounding the lake suddenly feel a lot less peaceful.

With Sheriff Nathan Thomas arriving to investigate and Monica's instincts pulling her deeper into the case, she can't resist following the trail—even when it leads her on a terrifying chase through the forest. Someone at Lake Canopy is hiding a grudge worth killing for, and Monica is getting dangerously close to the truth.

Macchiato Mayhem is the fifth book in the Brown's Ground Mystery cozy series. If you like spirited female sleuths, charming small-town romance, and puzzles that keep you guessing, you'll love Wendy Meadows's latest caffeinated adventure.

This was a fun mystery! I can imagine how Monica must have felt not being able to work for over a week. I love what I do and I doubt I will ever retire. I never feel like I am working. The whole trip to the lake sounded awesome. However, I figured that a different person would end up dead. I really enjoyed reading this story!

Lots of twists and turns that keep you guessing. Interesting characters that are quite unexpected as the story moves on. Small town setting makes a great setting for a murder mystery. Good read. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
