About this ebook

Are you tired of people knowing who you are but no one really knowing you?

As the star of the twentieth season of The Bachelor, Ben Higgins looked like he had it all together. Instead, Ben felt dissatisfied, fearful, and deeply alone. Like so many of us, he thought of himself as the kid who never got picked for the game, the person always on the outside of the joke, the friend who knew a lot of people but was never truly known. He wondered if he mattered at all.

In this expanded edition of Alone in Plain Sight, Ben shares with inspiring vulnerability how he found the deeper connection he longed for. He offers insight on

  • how to understand ourselves more deeply so that we are free to connect with others;
  • how shared pain can bridge even the widest gaps between two very different people;
  • how marriage and fatherhood have shaped his understanding of vulnerability and connection;
  • how the God who longs for relationship with us is the answer to our need for connection; and
  • in an all-new chapter, how radical generosity, service, and community building can lead to an even greater depth of relationship.

In a disconnected world, it is possible to have lasting purpose and peace. You are already known. You are already loved. You are already seen. Discover how to live out how much you matter as you embrace the true meaning of your one incredible life.

I was fortunate enough to get an early prerelease copy of this book. I had heard some stories about it, but was not prepared for the emotional journey I was about to go on. Ben writes about the deep feelings that start as a young kid (sometimes) of feeling Alone while in plain site. But, he continues on to share about his own journey to finding purpose and connectedness. This book is a must read for anyone. We all have our moments where we feel disconnected and truly alone. Where we feel like our value is diminished. Where labels have defined us. Where we question whether those even closest to us truly find us lovable. Ben doesn’t sit in despair. He doesn’t take you down an over-sharing journey, rather works with you so you can put the book down more aware than ever how very loved and valued you are.

When you think of someone like Ben Higgins, who is tall, dark, handsome, popular and self-assured, you think that this guy has it all. He couldn't possibly know how it feels to be on the outside looking in, like so many find themselves doing, right? Fortunately, Ben, who went from stealing hearts on Kaitlyn's season of The Bachelorette, to having Bachelor Nation fall in love with him on his own season of The Bachelor, opted to use his platform to share his truth with the world. Ben has had to overcome obstacles of his own to become the successful man he is today. His book is an inspiration for those who may be facing struggles during these unprecedented times and for those who may just need a reminder that faith, perseverance and strong will can get you to the place you ultimately want to be. Kudos to Ben for sharing his journey in a well-written book that you won't be able to put down from the first page to the last.
