Prof. Sofendi, M.A., Ph.D.

Prof. Sofendi, M.A., Ph.D. was born in Palembang, South Sumatra, Indonesia. He did his elementary, junior and senior high schools in Palembang. In Palembang, he also did his undergraduate study at Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Sriwijaya University majoring in English Education. He did his diploma degree in English Language Teaching and Administration and master degree in English for Specific Purposes at Warwick Unversity, England in 1988 and 1989 respectively. He also did his doctorate degree in England and completed it in 1998 at London University. Since 1987, he has been teaching at English Education Study Programme, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Sriwijaya University. As a lecturer, he has written many articles presented in national as well as international seminars and 15 English textbooks used by the students of Sriwijaya University to learn English as one of their courses. In addition to his regular teaching, he is also appointed to be, some of them, (1) Secretary of Sriwijaya University Job Service Centre, (2) Secretary of Language and Arts Education Department, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Sriwijaya University, (3) Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Sriwijaya University, (4) Director of Sriwijaya University Language Institute, (5) Dean of Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Sriwijaya University, and (6) Vice Director for Academic and Students Affairs of Graduate School, Sriwijaya University.
