William Le Queux

William Le Queux (1864-1927) Anglo-French novelist and journalist, one of the most popular writers of the Edwardian period. Born in London to a French father and English mother, Le Queux worked as a foreign correspondent across Europe before turning to fiction. A prolific author of over 150 works, he specialized in spy novels, mysteries, and invasion literature that captured pre-World War I anxieties. His bestsellers included "The Invasion of 1910" and "The Great War in England in 1897," which sold millions of copies worldwide. Le Queux combined sensational journalism with imaginative plotting, creating thrillers that blended romance, crime, and international conspiracy. An inveterate traveler familiar with European high society, he set many novels in the casinos and resort towns frequented by the cosmopolitan elite of the early twentieth century.
