In his empowering and accessible bestseller, celebrated clinician Dr Gabor Maté seeks to dispel the myth of attention deficit disorder as genetically based – and offers real hope and advice for children and adults who live with the condition.

Drawing on decades of experience in psychology, neurology and child development – as well as his own lived experience with ADHD - Dr Maté offers a compassionate and insightful approach to understanding attention difficulties.

In Scattered Minds, you’ll discover:

  • A new understanding of ADHD and neurological development in both children and adults
  • Why challenges with focus, impulsivity and emotional regulation develop
  • How early experiences can shape the developing brain
  • Practical insights to help parents better understand and support their children
  • Tools for adults with ADHD to make sense of their behaviours and emotions

Blending science, compassionate insight and real-life examples, Scattered Minds is an essential read for parents of children with ADHD, or for adults navigating neurodiversity and attention difficulties.

Exceptional insight and informative. I found it reassuring and educational. At moments I felt overwhelmed, yet as I progressed my thoughts/brain settled into a peaceful understanding of how ADHD has affected my life (over the years) and is now also affecting my children (specially my boy as I began suspicious of his ADHD before mine or his dad's). Thank you so very much.
